Happy 21st Birthday "BFFF" Gary Sim

It is the time of the month November! My very own "BFFF" birthday. As usual, he just won't let the matter rest and thinking of millions' of ways to make a loud "BANG!" This year, he stole everybody limelight with his SO BOOMZ golden bow tie, thick sparkling hairdo and pure white outfits, while everybody had to wear black on that special day.

Hack! it's halloween night and I want to be angel. Gary always disagree with me with the idea of me wearing white. I asked why? and his reasoning was: "It's my party and I got to call the shots and you got to wear black like the ugly ducking for me!!!" how ironic!!! Anyway, nothing beats more than his request. haha. When it comes to my birthday gary, I will make sure you wear nothing but trunks!!! Harbouring revenge now. hehe. You see cindy as the black widow, very stunning but make her look old haha. You old hag!

After 1 year plus plus of working at out station, and yes it is 1 year, I have been summon back to training. Training training and training. This time round more things to learn and more things to remember. Test was required, how sickening. I just hate it when I have to study for it especially at my age....

Thank god, a few of my batchies were with me. If not, thunderstorm!!! Missed all of them now. Leoniel, Anson, Zaman, Jeremy, Kathy, Samantha, Rey and many many others. Loved my trainer who is so detailed and adorable at the same time. Bubbly and cheerful I would say and she made our day by making our lessons fun and lively. 4 days of training before I am sent to my doom.... No escapism, No relying on others. You are all on your own. Well it isn't the first time anyway BUT!!! nevermind, I will find my own ways to revolve situations.

Good luck to all my fellow batchies! We will all find our methods in succeeding. The next time we gather, we will be much more apprehensive... Remember to exchange tips hor... haha... Signing off.

CCWA October Gathering 17Oct09

Happy birthday to the September and October babies, Aaron, Xian Hui and my dearest Cindy. Had a wonderful gathering with the CCWA Dragon boat team. Organising our gathering was Gary. He sure knows how to pick a spot. Well love the environment at the Marina Square K box, but one thing for sure. The food, I mean buffet really suck big time.

As usual, all of us sang our hearts out. Videos will be posted on my next post after our dearest Franco has successfully upload it on his facebook. More pictures to come on my facebook... Jimmy shouting at Franco to do his job!!! haha.

Loving every hour, every minute, every second of our life and of course with you guys around! Yang fei, Franco, Sean, Aaron, Gary, Cindy, Tom, Tresa, Xian hui and Su Suan. Another happy day to remember. If only life is a smooth ride, bringing sadness away like the wind, free and strong. Closing.

Graccia de milli = Thanks a million. haha. One word that I keep using in Milano, Italy. It's easy and I love to pronounce it with the R accent. Milano being one of the highest well known country not only with soccer but also the fashion industry, is one of the station that you must go, but beware of the darker citizens there if you get what I mean. Don't believe? wait till you get conned. hehe.

One thing I learn from these travelling experiences is never let your guard down. You might not know what will happen to you next. They will robbed you to nuts. haha. Why am I so sure? Because my batch boy and I were robbed by these sickening low life there!!! Bye bye 90 Euros... Singaporeans are easy target to them as we are so innocent that we believe some things are fo r free thurs triggering our sense of greed. Oh well not every country is as safe as Singapore. Sometimes you really got to learn your lesson the hard way.

Sceneries in Milano is beautiful. Old architectures from the god knows centuries will blow your mind away. Covered Duomo church, the Duomo shopping and the square. Lovely and breath taking interior and exterior. More photos on Facebook. Food is rather expensive there but I simply love the italian pastas. There is always a difference when you taste it there, different from what you will get in Singapore. Anyway I'm loving it!

Information on Milano, Italy.

The word Milan derives from the ancient Latin name of the city, Mediolanum. This name is borne by a number of Gallo-Roman sites in France, such as Mediolanum Santonum (Saintes) and Mediolanum Aulercorum (Evreux) and appears to contain the Celtic element -lan, signifying an enclosure or demarcated territory (source of the Welsh word 'llan', meaning a sanctuary or church). Hence, Mediolanum could signify the central town or sanctuary of a particular Celtic tribe.

The origin of the name and of a boar as a symbol of the city are fancifully accounted for in Andrea Alciato's Emblemata (1584), beneath a wood cut of the first raising of the city walls, where a boar is seen lifted from the excavation, and the etymology of Mediolanum given as "half-wool", explained in Latin and in French. Ohaiyo Nippon! 4 days in Tokyo, 4 days to complete one mission. Explore the famous Shinjuku like what you really see in Jacky chan's movie, the Shinjuku incident. It is really a one hell lot of mission especially when the weather is wet and cold like 10 degrees... Pokadots... If you don't believe, check out my thick thick jacket and my lovely pink umbrella haha... It is getting more of a trend now especially for guys to carry bright pink umbrella.

First thing I must comment about is the human traffic in subway train station in Tokyo. They are so so packed and horrible. People are walking all over the directions. Not only that which I personally don't like about, it is also the language barrier which I am facing not only when I am there for leisure but also when I am at work... They just simply look like holy symbols to me. This can be quite a chore. So lesson learnt. I need to learn how to speak Japanese, but not from the Japanese language for dummies book. haha. Trust me, they don't really help much. Shopping is always an in thing for me and plus shopping in Japan is rather expensive but I still buy a lot of nonsensical stuff haha. That is why I love to go on a holiday. Don't you see the fun in it?

Anyway, I am a big big fan of Japanese food so sushi and unagi is a must try food for me. Simply love the taste of it. There is this supermart and a famous Japanese store in AEON Narita that sells really good food and groceries. Right now when I think of it, I will still drool a little. hehe. Smoking in the streets of Japan is prohibited. Only allocated places near the malls or subway is allowed so smokers like me will have a hard time looking for one especially when it rains, but who cares, it's Japan!

Something you should know about Tokyo, Narita, Japan.

Tokyo was originally a small fishing village named Edo. In 1457, Ōta Dōkan built Edo Castle. In 1590,Tokugawa Ieyasu made Edo his base and when he became shogun in 1603, the town became the center of his nationwide military government. During the subsequent Edo period, Edo grew into one of the largest cities in the world with a population topping one million by the 18th century. It became the de facto capital of Japan even while the emperor lived in Kyoto, the imperial capital. After about 263 years, the shogunate was overthrown under the banner of restoring imperial rule. In 1869, the 17-year-old Emperor Meiji moved to Edo. Tokyo was already the nation's political and cultural center, and the emperor's residence made it a de facto imperial capital as well with the former Edo Castle becoming the Imperial Palace. The city of Tokyo was established, and continued to be the capital until it was abolished as a municipality in 1943 and merged with the "Metropolitan Prefecture" of Tokyo.

Central Tokyo, like Osaka, has been designed since about the turn of the century (1900) to be centered around major train stations in a high-density fashion, so suburban railways were built relatively cheaply at street level and with their own right-of-way. This differs from many cities in the United States that are low-density and automobile-centric. Though expressways have been built in Tokyo, the basic design has not changed.

For these all and all, I should say I still heart Japan! Too bad due to time constrain I can't make my way down to the Disney, Oh well, I shall leave it for next time then. My ratings:

Amsterdam 12Jan - 16Jan09

I amsterdam... this was the picture that Melissa, my batch girl showed me. I am so so jealous of her going to such nice places. haha, but never did I expect that I was actually going there on my next trip!!! Netherlands here I come!!!

Met a SUPER WUBER NICE bunch of people on board. We clicked like instantly and the next thing is EXPLORING Amsterdam!!! Natalie who happens to come from my home town which I found out on board, was along side with me. No wonder a sense of familiarity. First stop into the shopping streets of Amsterdam to grab my fridge magnets, food is a must. I don't want to die of starvation at night plus it is a 6 hours difference in Gmt.

First day was pretty much done after exploring the town of Amsterdam, Sex shops, Ann Franks' house and of course the Shopping street. Also my current favourite pork ribs stall at the corner of the Shopping street. Lovely taste! Second day, Into outskirts of Amsterdam! Cheese farm, Windmill, Animal farm, Clog maker and Seamen village. Amsterdam is famous for it's clog (wooden shoe) as they are always in rainy season most of the time. They are also rich in history of the water extraction programme which is the usage of the windmill in their land reclaimation programme. Very special indeed. One thing to note, Food is pretty expensive there. People are all over friendly and it is a safe country compare to other European countries.

Notes about Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Amsterdam is the capital andlargest city of the Netherlands, located in the province of North Holland in the west of the country. The city, which had a population of 1.36 million (with suburbs) on 1 January 2008, comprises the northern part of the Randstad, the 6th-largest metropolitan area in Europe, with a population of around 6.7 million.

Its name is derived from Amstel dam, indicative of the city's origin: a dam in the river Amstel, where the Dam Square is today. Settled as a small fishing village in the late 12th century, Amsterdam became one of the most important ports in the world during the Dutch Golden Age, a result of its innovative developments in trade. During that time, the city was the leading center for finance and diamonds. In the 19th and 20th centuries, the city expanded and many new neighbourhoods and suburbs were formed.

One of my Favourite spot in Europe. Beautiful sceneries will make you fall in love with this country. One must go places in Europe! Don't worry about language barrier as most of the people there are over friendly and they speak good English. Travellers must take note. My ratings:

Adelaide 7Jan - 9Jan09

First trip after the holiday season was actually a drag to me. I miss all the fun celebration. Especially Christmas. Being lazy is one of my forte too. haha. Well I am born in the year of boar you see, so of course I am a lazy piggy. haha.

Was surprised to see Joan, my batch girls' sister. We had hell lot of fun only when she don't complain to me about her booby problems haha. Cast that aside, we had a memorable time in Adelaide, Australia. Shopping was our first priority as the shops there closes really early. Like after 5pm, the whole shopping streets of Adelaide turned into a ghostly cold ripped town. Not that I am too over the matter, but it is true. Joan agrees with me too.

I bought my fridge magnet as usual. One star wars t shirt and lots of "ling ling long longs" along side with Joan. She spends more than me, another shopaholic in action especially the discount bargain part. Christine, if you think that I am worst, take a look at your sister!!! haha. Food is pretty hard to get after 5pm. No time to really look around. For lazy people like me, maybe I might like this place because they really stop work on time haha.

It is a coastal city situated on the eastern shores of Gulf St. Vincent, on the Adelaide Plains, north of the Fleurieu Peninsula, between the Gulf St. Vincent and the low-lying Mount Lofty Ranges. It is roughly 20 km (12 mi) from the coast to the foothills but sprawls 90 km (56 mi) from Gawler at its northern extent to Sellicks Beach in the south.

Named in honour of Queen Adelaide who was born in Germany, the consort of King William IV, the city was founded in 1836 as the planned capital for the only freely settled British province in Australia. Colonel William Light, one of Adelaide's founding fathers, designed the city and chose its location close to the River Torrens in the area originally inhabited by Indigenous Australians of the Kaurna tribe. Light's design set out Adelaide in a grid layout, interspaced by wide boulevards and large public squares, and entirely surrounded byparkland. Early Adelaide was shaped by religious freedom and a commitment to politicalprogressivism and civil liberties, which led to world-first reforms.

If you are thinking of going to Adelaide for travelling, my advise, go there once, been there, done that kind is enough. Good place to retire though. haha. My ratings:

"Calling all die heart Gucci fans out there! If you want to get really cheap real Gucci stuff, then Auckland, New Zealand DFS shopping mall is the one stop area that you must go. Not only that it is cheap due to $$ exchange rates but also an additional of 20% discounts!!!"

It is the brand new year of 2009. Another cross over, another new beginning. Hopefully by now all our wishes might have come true. I'm pretty done with mine. haha. Fifi and I of course went shopping as usual one the first day after touch down. I tell you she is really a hardcore shopaholic. If there asian version of the movie, she will surely get in as the main cast. Haha.

Cheers and loud music was everywhere as it is New year. Went down to the harbour of Auckland to have our dinner then we headed straight to the casino at sky tower for our major celebration. Partying like crazy straight 8 hours till morning. I always loved the New Zealanders, they never fail to make me laugh my head off, but I always think the food there is really bad.

My opinion for people who intend to stay there for good, it will be a very nice, fun and quiet environment, plus stress free. Travellers for holiday, maybe not all the time if you get what I meant. My ratings:

Merry Christmas to all!!! Hope all of you have gotten all your presents by now. 25th December 2008 marks another new beginning in life because it is a signal that says 2008 is coming to an end. haha. Even though I am on tight schedule at work however, I was allowed to be free on this lovely occasion.

The lovely bunch of people never fail to make my life more meaningful than ever. Brought down to the minor details of food preparations to the home decorations were through through the deepest considerations. How can I not love them. haha. The celebration was splendid. Count down to every seconds of Christmas.

Danny, Darren, Frankie, Wee keong, Luke, Ian, James, Nick, Byrant, Shawn, Ben, Javin, Kenneth, Alvin and Jenny. A day to remember. 25th December 2008. Closing.

If you think there are really nothing to do in Lahore, Pakistan, then you are so wrong. What happens when you put 2 boys and a girl together? They turn threesome? I doubt the possibility of getting any. They just do wild things together. That is what happen when I went with Dane and Racheal.

Who would have expected I actually went with them. 3 nights with them was full of laughter. From shopping at the streets of Lahore to the tuk tuk vehicle buzzing to the narrow streets of Lahore. Change of guards between India and Pakistan and of course the fun fair parade at the outskirts of Lahore border. Not forgetting the red light district Mindi Lahore.

One tall, one short and one lian. That is all that matters. Into Lahore, another dangerous place! Dane made fun of me by saying that the locals loves fair asian boys. They will rape me. haha. You think I will believe you, dream on! haha. Love the food there, chicken tikka hmm my favourite. If you like handy craft work, then the alley of Lahore will be the one stop place that you have to go. Sell lots of nice unique jewels and the textile materials are rich there.

Information of Lahore, Pakistan

It successively served as the capital of the empires of the Shahi kingdoms in the 11th century, The Ghaznavids in the 12th century, the Ghurid State in the 12th and 13th century, the Mughal Empire in the 16th century, the Sikh Empire in the early 19th century, and it was the capital of the Punjab region under the British Raj in the mid 19th and early 20th century.

Mughal structures such as the Badshahi Mosque, the Lahore Fort, Shalimar Gardens, and the mausolea of Jehangir and Nur Jehan are popular tourist attractions for the city. Lahore is also home to many British colonial structures built in the Mughal-Gothic style, such as the Lahore High Court, the General Post Office (GPO), theLahore Museum, and many older universities including the University of the Punjab. Lahore is often referred to as the cultural heart of Pakistan, as it is the center of Pakistani arts, films and intelligentsia.

One word to describe this trip - FUN!!! Just be careful of the culture difference, stay in groups. Girls no mini skirts. haha. My ratings:

I could hear the lions calling me from afar. Strumming and drumming of musical instruments by the native folks of South Africa in Johannesburg calling to celebrate the happy occasion of the new dawn. I thought I was dreaming in my la la land but it was actually happening along side with my junior in school, Shuian.

We were lucky. Rian, our tour guide, whom I met on on board offered to bring us around. Drove us in a silver white mercedes to and from our hotel to the places of interest. My first time touching a lion club in Africa was not any easier. I tell you they bite and they mean it. haha. Shuian, Karlina and Rian are so brave. Feeding the giraffe was pretty fun. Was in the car watching the real wild life in action as we saw the king of jungle devoured his lunch.

Night life was full of zest. Native folks celebrated by singing their most uproar language of their own along with the instrument, strumming and drumming. Had our dinner being late, we wouldn't have even bothered to listen. Shopping was no longer a must anymore as we experienced a different realm of life with only music and food. In any case, things there are pretty affordable. Bought my fridge magnet as usual.

Facts about Johannesburg

Johannesburg also known as Jozi or Jo'burg, is the largest city in South Africa. Johannesburg is the provincial capital of Gauteng, the wealthiest province in South Africa, having the largest economy of any metropolitan region in Sub-Saharan Africa. The city is one of the 40 largest metropolitan areas in the world and it is one of Africa's only three global cities, the other two being Cairo and Cape Town. While Johannesburg is not officially one of South Africa's three capital cities, it does house the Constitutional Court – South Africa's highest court.

Johannesburg is the source of a large-scale gold and diamond trade, due to its location on the mineral-rich Witwatersrand range of hills. Johannesburg is served by O.R. Tambo International Airport, the largest and busiest airport in Africa and a gateway for international air travel to and from the rest of southern Africa.

Travellers should be careful there as it is one of the highest crime rate country. Never go out alone and you must go in a vehicle. Looks like the movie, Blood Diamond isn't only a show. My ratings:

Called up for Nagoya, Japan! How unexpected. I always love Japan cultures. The food, shopping, people and technologies there too. It is just so amazing to see how Japan technologies surpasses those in Singapore. Charles agrees with me too.

The people in Nagoya are so polite, well all Japanese are polite and friendly. I think its' their culture and upbringing, compare to our modern society, a hell lots of difference if you get what I mean. Loved the weather, cold and windy. How can I not fall in love with a city of four seasons. For fridge magnets collectors like me, I tell you its' impossible to get one there as no shopping areas sells that.

My first time into the shrine temple of Nagoya was unexpected. An accidental discovery with Charles as we were walking towards the shopping Parco area to hunt for my fridge magnet. Wishes board was the first thing we did. There stood a castle of Nagoya north west of the temple, not that I could see it but in accordance to the map. Too bad under time restriction, I can't go over but never the less I will put it on my next trip I guess. Beautiful is the word I describe.

19th november 2008, marks the day of my new perception in life. I cried on the way back to the hotel. A horrible state I see as I step out of the airport. Tens and tens of kids running towards us, begging for money. Some with no hands, some carrying babies crying. I slowly turned to them and saw their mothers slowly approaching.

The driver quickly shoo them away like seeing ghost approaching from hell. Well I knew that he meant well to protect us. I slowly pick up my wallet from my cabin bag when suddenly a voice shouted from the vehicle. Stop it Jimmy! If you give one, all will rushed to you... (as proven at the shopping area), you won't want to feed the syndicate too! My fellow co workers grabbed my hand and dashed past into the bus.

It was not easy for me. Knowing that India is a relatively poor country, I should be more mentally prepared but never did I expect children begging. Looks like Slum dogs millionaire have lots of truth in it. As there is always a saying, the rich will get richer and the poor will get poorer. How true. Slums are everywhere. I really wonder how can they live in such harsh living conditions. I beginning to love my parents more.

Facts about Bombay, India.

Mumbai, formerly Bombay, is the capital of the Indian state of Maharashtra. Along with the neighbouring suburbs of Navi Mumbai and Thane, it forms the world's 4th largest urban agglomeration, with around 19 million people. The seven islands that came to constitute Bombay were home to communities of fishing colonies. For centuries, the islands came under the control of successive kingdoms and indigenous empires before being ceded to Portuguese settlers and subsequently to the British East India Company. During the mid-18th century, Bombay emerged as a significant trading town. Economic and educational development characterised the city during the 19th century. In 1960, following the Samyukta Maharashtra movement, a new state of Maharashtra was created with Bombay as the capital. It was renamed Mumbai in 1996.

Travellers just be aware of beggers and pick pockets! Things there are really cheap! Especially books! Can bargain till your price is right. Here are my ratings if you want to travel there:

Zurich, Switzerland is one of my favourite places to visit. My first solo trip alone, of course with my fellow co workers, Jothan, Kim and Jinu. They uses swiss franc and it's pretty expensive to eat and travel. If you are thinking of shopping there. My advise to you is try not to. Hahaha. Oh one thing is cheap there! Longchamp!

My first trip of course with fear and being a blur king as rated by friends, is no easy task for me. Got scolded left right upside down by peers. However I made it! Everything just needed time to learn and fit in I guess. If there is really no pain, then there wouldn't be any gain. Learning every steps of my life!

Zürich can be counted as one of the world's pre-eminent global cities. Zürich was named the city with the best quality of life in the world as well as the wealthiest city in Europe. Zürich is also ranked the sixth most expensive city in the world. In 2008, Zürich was ranked ninth. The city ranked behind Hong Kong and ahead of Copenhagen. It is the third most expensive city in Europe and second most expensive city in Switzerland after Geneva. Zürich is really a very pretty and socialized place to visit.

Inspiration to write again...

After 2 years of hibernation in the cave... well as I was really busy with work and the change of lifestyle, I had to disappear for a while... haha... Been through a lot of ups and downs, everything was not easy but I pull through... so it is time for me to resurface and start writing!

So what inspired me to blog this time? hmm... The answer of course is my travelling experiences! Many stories to unfold, just waiting for the right time to... If I may, I will. If I will, I shall, If I shall, I must. Looks like we will have plenty of time to share...

Always remember Jimmy, Life was never a easy, if you choose to give up now, you are a coward and Jimmy hates to be defeated. I shall rise again!
